As a result of success of the first Design + Industry Workshop -organized between December 2008 and April 2009 by the Egyptian Furniture Export Council (EFEC)and the Industrial Modernization Center (IMC), a second workshop is scheduled to start the beginning of February 2010.

This year’s workshop is bringing a group of 16 new companies from Damietta, Alexandria, Ismailia, 10^th of Ramadan, 6^th of October, and Cairo together with four acclaimed international designers, Ricardo Blumer, Lucy Salamanca, Dodo Arslan,Alessando&Fabrizio Pierandrei.  Joining them will be a carefully selected group of over twenty young designers eager to enter the world of furniture design. The design teams will be working with the companies to develop new collections of internationally marketable products rooted in the Egypt identity. The prototypes emerging from this workshop Will feature in Furnex This June. Like the former, this workshop is managed by Rhimal Design and Istituto Europeo di Design Centro Ricerche (CRIED) from Milan. The Design+Industry Workshop 2- is part of the EFEC’s strategic plan to integrate design into the processes of Egyptian Furniture manufacturers as a means of expanding their international and local marketing potentials.
